The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti Scheme has been established during the session 1986-87 base on the new education policy 1986 Government of India. In this scheme 503 JNVs, are functioning in each district spread over 34 states and union territories excluding Tamilnadu.

                       Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Belpada, Bolangir (Orissa) is established during the year 1987-88 and has been functioning from 24/08/1987.  It is situated 60 kms. southwest from the district Headquarters- Bolangir. School is functioning from class Vlth to Xllth having 420 children. The school is running in the permanent site having an area of 30.45 acres, which is not yet transferred to the Samiti by the state Government. In class Xllth level two streams are available i.e. Science and Humanities. The school is adopting migration policy actively and  30 % students of class IXth are migrated from this Vidyalaya to JNV, Amarkantak (M.P) and vice-versa every year. Students from JNV Nuapara and JNV Sundargarh are coming in mini migration to read +2 humanities and students of our Vidayalaya are going to JNV Sundargarh to read +2 Commerce. The school is also having junior group of NCC, Scout and Guide inculcates discipline, morals ethics and cultures.
